So much for Conservatism !

Fred Thompson has withdrawn frome the Presidential Race.....I had a feeling this was going to be the case, as I have read a little here and a little there about what his campaign workers were not doing, and that they should be doing and weren't. Then to top it off I got a request to do some telephone canvassing the day of the primary in SC. I got the message loud and clear, but I wouldn't allow myself to come out and say so... I did complete a survey on Hulett, I believe that's how you spell it.....Anyway, It was a survey if Thompson should throw in the towel and be placed on the McCain ticket would I vote for him.. The ansere is a big NO. Unless the has been leading us down the garden path. I can not see his values comparable with McCain's. A person can compromise on most anything, except his morals and values. That is my take......back tracking maybe if Romney would take him in and drop his Universal Health Plan, I could be listening.....

It seems most of the political pundits feel that Thompson will back McCain. If that's true, then why were we backing Thompson? This is getting to be pretty darn confusing, Tap!

Right now I'm not going to get overly enthusiastic about any of them. I truly don't want any of them... but here we go again. Nothing ever seems to change, does it?

Imho Fred Thompson was the best GOP candidate, and no, he was NOT in my Final Four [those are Rommey, Huckabee, Edwards, and Richardson] based on my proprietary cfs guessing indicators but he was the best of the GOP. Now the best thing the GOP can do is to pick Mitt Romney to win a close election in November, or pick Senator John S McCain and LOSE big time in November. Imho Senator John S McCain is a member of the OLD GUARD and is part of the PROBLEM. I can NOT and will NOT support a McCain or a Clinton for president, they are NOT good for my country. Have a productive week and weekend in MAINE.

cfs - I voted, have YOU?

It took me weeks and weeks to make up my mind to vote for Fred T.

NOW, who do we support?

I'm not inspired....I'm totally bewildered.

cfs, we vote feb 1 and I'm still up in the air......stay well....

inspired, I know how you feel. I'm as bewildered as you....I had that strange feeling, like something isn't right...Then the announcement.....Kind of makes you wonder what was happening....stay well.....

I am totally confused.

And I am getting mad, we should have a FredHead outcry telling Fred not to do us like this and get his ass back in the race!!

I will vote for the frontrunner whoever it turns out to be on the GOP side of course, but I wish it was going to be Fred.

Thank's for stopping by my blog :-)

Rose, Thanks for visiting. I haven't been in your neck of the woods for many years but, in the past I spent a few days at Mildenhall, however my forefathers departed from Devon, England in 1651, I believe. They were a branch of the Percy Family. I'm afraid England has changed much over the years. Religion was a big part of the political landscape at that time. You got Religion out of politics and also out of everyday living so much so that it left a vacuum and now that vacuum is being filled by extremist in the name of their religion and unless it is halted will totally dominate the landscape again, as your excellent Blog portrays. A perfect example of "history repeating itself". I ramble....stay well....

Well Tap, since I left my first comment here, I've made up my mind. I've decided to go with Romney. At least he can't be bribed, being as rich as Midas, he's a great speaker, and he's electable because, after all, he was elected governor in the extremely liberal state of Massachusetts. Not perfect, but then we will never have a candidate who is. He knows more about turning the economy around than even Rudy does, so I'm going for Romney and hope it's the right thing to do.

Patrick at www.bornagainredneck.blogspot.com has a very good post up on him. He just made the same decision I did.

No you don't, you are wise and that's important. If only there were more wise people, then maybe this situation wouldn't have started in the first place.
I was down about the fact but I have heard from some people with good attitudes which has given me some hope.
Take care

I have long been a Rudy supporter, but Fred was my second choice, and I’m sorry to see him go.
I am not sure who Fred Thompson will endorse but I hope it's not NcCain

Gayle, I have been out and around so I haven't been answering my blog comments....I have looked at Romney and I am stuck on his universal health plan..Look at Our neighbor, in fact ask your friend at Canadian Sentinal and see what he says about their socialism.....stay well.....

English, Thanks for stopping by. I guess I got carried away with my comments on your blog...Sorry, but I see how far you as a nation have traveled and see the gradual disintergration of individual freedom..It's sad. I'm sorry to say it is startin in Canada and here also. I'm sure you are aware that our Bill of Rights came from Englands influencem on individual rights, also many of our Laws are based on English Common Law
......I don't know what happened to England along the way, but I think someone got lost..Currently, our Supreme Court is looking at the 2nd amendment and will rule on our right as individuals to bear arms, a right that was given as individual rights in the 1700's...We have been fighting this onw many years but our Constiutional Justices have come through ruling for the individual,( so Far)?? We will see, but We are right behind you unless we wake up and smell the coffee..One by one a little at a time....I ramble....stay well...

When I person votes for who is going to give the voter a handout, the voter loses his personal freedom .

Tapline said...

Crabby, Welcome,,,,,It's called re-distribution of wealth......actually, it's called "Lets get rid of the middle Class". and its happening fast....Just look at the cost of housing. It's outrageous and its not stopping....The problem with that is when you have nothing they will help you eat, Nothing more, but free medical and food money and food stamps now don't go to work because then we will cut out all those bennies......Now when we finally get you to work then we will stick it to you with taxes,,,no grants for school,,,,,no give away programs. You pay for everything and still pay more taxes to support the little guy...Now if you make much money...You pay no taxes, because now everything will be a write-off. You have to get the big picture.....I ramble.....stay well.....

I've softened on McCain; perhaps, a backlash of sorts, as the level of discourse, to me, has gotten so over-the-top in regards to criticizing McCain. McCain deserves criticism- but I can't abide for some of the absolute hyperbolic rhetoric regarding his status as a conservative.

It's gotten to the point of spinning his record, just to reinforce and validate one's displeasure of him.

Word, Sorry this went to my moderation box and not my E-mail first....consequently I'm late adding my response. I hear what your saying and If that is your opinion, It's yours No one can take it away from you. When one had decided on who they will support. That is who they honestly believe will lead and support what you stand for. That's great. I do not see what is happening as turning on him, but making certain things that he believes available to the rest of us who are not as convenienced as you. I am not a big conspiracy nut, but i wonder, no! I am concerned why all these politicians want open borders?????Don't you think that is a logical question, especially when the illegals utilize our welfare system, medical system and our judicial system which I support by my taxes, And another thing to add to this travesty of justice,,,States passing amnesty laws contermanding existing Federal laws concerning illegals. They also do not like his stand with democrates on a few bills. I can understand that also, if the bills in question reduce our rights as citizens of the great country. Too many bills have already been passed, wome without our knowledge that cut away bit by bit at our individual freedoms. When you get to be my age you look back over your life and said. Wow! look at what has been taken away from this country and individual rights. Now I just shake my head and pray a lot......I ramble....stay well....
