Who would have thought!!!!

This blew me apart....God help this Nation.....They certainly won't help themselves. i just read a blog post from "Ace of Spades" concerning Wiretapping and the Soldiers kidnapped by insurgents or Al Quida In May of this year. Thinking to myself, self, what does wiretapping and easedropping have to do with the war and kidnapped soldiers??? Logical question, (so I thaught). Another article written in the New York Post,Titled "Wire Law failed lost GI" dated October 16,2007. also confirms this travesty of Justice... It was reported, and I'll paraphrase, While on lookout, 7 soldiers were attacked by Al Quida, of these 4 were killed outright and three were kidnapped. Immediately the machinery was put into action to rescue these three. They wanted to wiretap the terrorist cellphones, but because of the law they were forced to stop and set the wheels in motion for attorneys to get permission from the AG's office to allow this procedure. Setting up this process took 10 hours. A crucial 10 hours that possibly could have led to the rescue of these soldiers, Instead, one body was found later in the river and the other two never found, but it was reported they were executed and buried. Go to both sites to get a good read on this sickening affair. It is my understanding that the Senate or House or both are aware of this miscarriage of justice and still are going to continue this same wiretapping fiesco.

I've never paid much attention to the issue of wiretapping. My thought..."how relevant can that be?" Now, I know!

Could you post the links to the sites you mentioned?

I'm confused ... I thought that they could go to the FICO court 30 days after they did the wire tap and the warrant would be issued retroactively. Besides, when did this administration ever bother to get a warrant for a wire-tap when it was really needed?

Please enlighten me ... I really am confused.

Paul, Remember we are talking about the Military. They do obey orders. Look at MacArthur. See how many generals have been fired. Congress promotes or fails to promote, see Sanchez remaarks..Do not get confused when it comes to the military. They will follow, rules of engagement and other Congressional directives, which become suppliments to some regulation etc etc.In reading some MIlblogs it was becoming so bad that soldiers were thinking before they shot because reports would have to be completed if they discharged their weapon and if they shot someone there were investigations to see if they complied with the rules of engagement. Since that Time I think the rules have changed but, the stigma is still there...If military men break protocol they are either fired, demoted or promoted, depending of the circumstances, so most of them follow it. The complete article, as i stated is in the October 18, 2007 issue of the New York Post and a followup article on Ace of Spades blog and the reporter did the write up on the 16th I believe. If you go to the Ace of Spades blog and read it the source is also stated there. click on that and you will go to the NYP article....stay well....

Thanks for a good post. Oh yes I do remember that incident in which our GIs were captured. I have not read the article but I believe they are talking about the May 12th incident.

We DROPPED the ball on this one [first for allowing our GIs to be out there alone in no-man's land, and then for failing to ACT on time to rescue our GIs].

KIA: Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack Jr., 20, of Torrance, CA., was captured May 12th 2007 by enemy forces in Al Taqa, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by insurgents using automatic fire and explosives. His body was found on May 23rd 2007

POW/MIA: Spc Alex R Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence MA, declared missing-captured June 27th 2007.

POW/MIA: Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, MI, declared missing-captured June 27th 2007.

Islamo fascist warriors [IFWs] did claim killing Spc Jimenez and Pvt Fouty. Our troops recovered their military IDs a couple of months ago during a raid, but no bodies were found. Both remain listed by our military as "missing-captured."

Thanks for the good post. Have a fine MAINE evening.

LRB, thanks for the information on the GI's involved. I'm sure our readers will also thank you. The point I was trying to make was this might not have ended as it did and I blame the politicians for this wholly. Off topic,,,In Vietnam I understand the weapons were contained in a sealed container outside the barracks area. If the base was attacked they had to find the person with the key so they could sign out a weapon. Another war run by politicns.and public opinion..stay well and thanks again....

Well, the politicians who make this sort of BS policy are entirely to blame and have the deaths of those soldiers, and possibly many others who "have to think before shooting" on their heads! I'm sure it's not bothering them at all... more's the pity! Good grief, Tap. If soldiers aren't allowed to fight to win then we may as well just bring them home and surrender! GRRRR!

By the way, I'm going to link you. Your blog will be under the name "Tapper's Blog." As you can probably see by my sidebar, I do links by people's names instead of their Blog name. I don't know why. It's just the way I started doing it and it would take forever for me to change it.

wow, ties right in with my most recent post. kit bond is currently the most vocal in either house about this issue and did a great interview with newsmax. i have a link to that article in my post.

yes the military will adhere to the rules, but no one in our legislative branch does. well, they spend most of their time denouncing the rules and trying to change them to be more in line with what they want.

am i the only one reminded of bratty kids fighting over sour grapes?!?!?

Hey Sugar, "sickening" is the word--dang it all...thang is that the
liberal polly-ticians is lovin'the play it buys for them at the expense of our troops.

Why in the name of all that is worthy does we send even a K-9 over iffin' we ain't gonna give it all the support for the mission that's possible?

The one thang worse than war is a half-heartedly fought war.

Good post.

This story made me so mad. An American solder's life on the line, and thanks to the Liberal Lefties our search was thwarted.
