Scooter Libby sentanced--

Scooter Libby was sentanced today. He received a 2 1/2 year sentance with a $250,000.oo fine. This is about an investigation by Mr. Fitzgerald on a crime that he knew the answer too. In other words it was a non-crime, if there is such a word. The longer I live the scareier this country becomes. This country is more worried about a non-crime than it is about ratical Islam. I do not understand why this case was allowed to continue (I would think it would be illegal) once the person who outed Ms. plume was discovered. This nation has lost its moral compass, or at least it seems that way to me...

Scooter's problem I think was that he thought a crime was committed by his boss and lied to try to cover it up. The sentance was outrageous, double what was recommended by the probation department and since it is a federal conviction ... no parole, so he will be serving most of it. Of course, he will be pardoned, but the longer he can draw out going to jail, the less time he will spend there. I think the President doesn't want to start pardoning people till the end of his term.

Paul: I read daily that probably the President will pardon him, but I have a problem with that, This man gave his life's work trying to do what he felt was his duty to the President. What a thankless bunch of nothings. The longer I live the more disallusioned I become
It could be that scooter is waiting for his appeal to be heard. He is released pending his appeal.

As I have said before, Scooter was NOT the target of the investigation [listen to what the prosecutor said, "there is a cloud over the vice president's head"]. The big fish is Shooter Cheney. The fishing expedition is not over, and I do NOT expect to see Scotter spending ONE DAY in jail [Shooter Cheney will NOT allow this to happen to his best friend]. tlrb

lower: welcome, I know you are right, but I do not know what is happening to our political system. Either I have not noticed this before I retired, or it hasnt always been this way, but wow, when do they do what they have been hired to do. Pass laws and see that the ones on the books are adhered to, but what do I know. Anyway, I now let my Reps know where I stand and I feel better about it...
