Liberation Theology
This is an interesting read that I saw while scanning a comment on Michelle's blog yesterday.. The subject was "Liberation Theology". according to the post it came by way of Hot Air and The thesis was written in the 1980s, by the Pope when he was a Cardinal. The article was titled "Liberation Theology by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger". I had the link copied and got involved with something else then lost it. I'll go back to see if I can copy it again. I think I'll just search it....Got it...For some reason I can't copy and paste, but just searched the title, that's how I got it back.....Anyway, It seems quite ironic given the present situation in Chicago.....http://www.christendom-awake.org/pages/ratzinger/liberationtheol.htm

If you can post a link I would appreciate it. Thanks. Also thanks for this visit.
I will try to find it as well Tap..ty!
Hi Tap,
There's another version I read in the 1970's by Paolo Freire, also on Liberation Theology. I'll look up the one authored by the current Pope. Didn't know he published a thesis on the subject. Thanks. --Durano, done!
Hi Tapster.
Just stoppin by to catch up on you.
Good blogging.
Stay well.
L&O Teach, Thanks for stopping by. I finally learned how to cut and paste on an edit. You have it....
Brad, Thanks for stopping by, Now you can see the link...stay well...
dd2, I haven't seen anything about this theology on the news, perhaps I missed it. I did read a blogger's comment asking why more has'nt been said about this "church". stay well.....
Hi, checked out the link, its quite a deep and meaningful read. Joseph Ratzinger was a most judicious Cardinal...Take care Tap...
AI, I thought this might provoke some discussion on other blogs, but as yet don't seem to have that many takers...I also thought it was very interesting. The only thing I have heard on the issue is from Fox and Glen Beck, but they don't get into the what exactly the theology is......stay well....
WE AS CHRISTIANS CAN NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE SOCIAL PITFALLS. SOMETIMES SOCIETY NEEDS TO REALIZE THEY NEED TO BE A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM ,NOT THE PROBLEM.
WE CAN NOT CHANGE OUR THEOLOGY, JUST TO BE POLITICALY CORRECT.
NOW I'M THE ONE WHO RAMBLES
Thanks for Your comments on my post.
That's a long read, Tap. I'm going to have to get to it later after I've had another cup of coffee or two... or three! LOL! I can't wrap my poor brain around it right now. :)
Yes... I understand the duty of Christians to minister to the poverty stricken and oppressed. We do our part through our donations in mission programs. But why should we support those who denounce our God and our country...not only in our nation but other parts of the world?
(Maybe the answer to this question will be revealed to me through the Bible Study I'm taking!!)
I may have missed the point you are making, but this is what popped into my head!!
Have a great day!!
Crabby, I think you have said what I fail to state. we must be steadfast in our faith, but we also must be able to read through false prophets and point them out to other Christians who might be unaware of their base....Thanks for stopping by.....stay well....
Gayle, Thanks for stopping by...Its a long read, but well worth the read if your so inclined....stay well.....
Inspired, You have it right. To compliment this article. I read where a "church" in Canada change the hymn of Easter, "Christ the Lord has risen today" to (something, I cant remember what the first word was), but the rest of the sentance was "....hope has risen today" The minister, They took the risen savior, out of who has risen....I'm rambling again....stay well....
A fun topic and a fun link. I find it a relief when the catholic church sticks to it's guns. I am not Catholic, as I am sure is obvious, but I appreciate it when a church doesn't let itself be blown around by popular trends...especially popular Marxist trends! Thanks for the link.
Yes it was worth the read, Tap. Thanks! I also have a video up today regarding Obama and Black Liberation Theology. Hope you can find the time to stop by.
ALR, Thanks for stopping by...Glad you enjoyed the link. I am not a Catholic either, but I am a Christian.and as Catholics, I believe in the holy catholic church, (it is a part of the Nicean creed)..stay well...
Gayle, I visited your blog and was blown away by the video. On OB, however it did not go as far as my link in describing what Black Liberation Theology really was all about.
No, you're link went into a lot more detail, Tap, but for the many people who will not bother to read anything longer than a short post, it makes a good point. :)
Hope you're well, Tapper!
I've written on liberation theology - that's some nasty stuff!!
DD, Thanks for stopping by. No I am OK, but reading a lot lately. I agree about your assessment on this Theology....stay well....
WHT, I hope you found it...Thanks for stopping by. I didn't answer your comment before because it had gone over to the moderate comment section and none of my other comments do this...stay well....
thanks for the visit Tap!
Tap,
Thanks for the link. I learned a lot about liberation theology over the past week. While I was on spring break I did a lot of reading. What I read I didn't care much for. It seems to be an insidious trend that now may be a lot more known in public. Maybe Obama caused a lot more dialogue than he really wanted to.
L&O Teach, Thanks for stopping by...Yes that was quite an eye opener for me also. unfortunately, the news picks up half of what it is and leaves the other part. especially the part about the religion????? stay well.....
